Why should drinking water be treated additionally?

Drinking water is already treated and regularly monitored in water treatment plants. It can be consumed without any issues. However, we would also like to provide a few important reasons why it is necessary to further treat drinking water.

Water treatment plants only purify water to specified standards, so that it meets all conditions for consumption. However, it will not be considered as "perfectly drinkable water". Whether due to technical possibilities or financial reasons. Such perfectly clean drinking water would be too expensive.

Another reason is the chlorine contained in the water. Chlorine mainly serves as a water disinfectant, acting as protection against possible infection. However, chlorine binds to tiny residues of organic compounds, forming new compounds, particularly so-called trihalomethanes. We perceive the quality of water not only by the smell of chlorine but also by the taste.

A number of households buy bottled water. This solution is not only expensive but also affects the environment (increases our carbon footprint).

Roughly only 1% of drinking water from the water supply system is actually consumed for drinking or cooking. The rest of the water is used for utility purposes, such as watering, cleaning, laundry, flushing, bathing, etc. The ideal solution is therefore to filter drinking water right before its consumption. For additional treatment and purification of water, we recommend using a water filter.
